Big Jump Challenge
European Youth Campaign for Water Protection
The Big Jump Challenge - European Youth Campaign for Water Protection is a cooperation of GETIDOS with the European Rivers Network and many further partners. Here we briefly document the history of this campaign. It also gave birth to the Youth Network for River Action. The network aims at reinforcing the exchange of knowledge between European youth organizations working for water protection and to this end foster the development of a European Youth River Network in the light of the big multi-generational task of European water framework directive implementation. The long-term goal is to nurture a network, based on bottom-up, creative local water actions, as well as joint European actions. The vision is based on the Youth Water Manifesto, which was developed during the Big Jump Challenge 2015.
In July 2016, the Berlin River Camp took place with participants from 18 countries. A documentation of the camp in the form of a "Travel Guide to a River" is available here.
In 2017, the focus of the network was on "wild rivers". Further information, as well as online modules around the ecological, ethics and politics of 'wild rivers' are available here.
In 2018, the YNRA supports the European campaign #protectwater. Further information about it here.
